Well, it's taken me about a year to actually get the courage to spill my guts to the world. (Although the world will never really read this) I'm doing it while I'm feeling strong, stable and emotionally intact. Something that I must say may be a rarity on here.
Cole slept through his 30 minute chest p.t. with his vest tonight. I am so thankful ~ the past couple days it has been harder and harder to get him to keep it on the whole time. Last night he would wake up as soon as I started it. I don't think it's the norm, but Cole is only 13 months old and he will not sit through a 30 minute session awake, so we wait for him to take a nap or go to sleep for the night. Works out pretty well most of the time - He needs to wear his vest twice daily for 30 minutes and do inhaled hypertonic saline twice daily for 15 minutes so we just do them while he sleeps. I can't imagine how difficult it is going to be to get him to do his treatments in the years to come. He's already learned he can say no, run away, cry and turn his head. Currently he's so crazy about his big brother if we pretend Chaz is doing it, Cole will usually do it too. That is our new trick with getting him to take his meds.
He is healthy. He hasn't cultured anything in MONTHS and his bronchoscopy was clear. Right now he is only taking the enzymes with food, Ursodiol for his liver, vitamins, and azithromicin 3x/week for inflamation (the bronchomalacia is dominantly the reason for this one). Quite a short list compared to most of the cf'ers.
